The Cans have Arrived

We are getting ready for the 2018 Central Iowa CANstruction design/build competition. Canstruction combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed the hungry. Competing teams, lead by architects and engineers, showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned food. This year’s theme is “Fairy Tales” and the competition will be held at Valley West Mall the morning of April 21st.

Design Alliance has participated in this great event almost every year, and Kyle Sandage is leading our team this year. We have 156 cases (3,111 pounds) of Progresso Loaded Potato with Bacon soup and over 1,300 pounds (let’s just say lots and lots of pouches) of Betty Crocker muffin, cookie, biscuit and pizza crust mix for our build. General Mills was generous enough to donate all these food items, PLUS another 600 cases of soup for the Food Bank of Iowa. That’s over 750 cases or 9,000+ cans of soup! We want to extend a great big THANK YOU from the Design Alliance team to everyone at General Mills!

Stay tuned for photos of the outcome…
